Tucked inside the sprawling office compound, Chef Brian Malarkey has created an unexpected oasis. Enter the eclectic space and you'll forget you're in an office building as you wind through dining areas that range from a modern space with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lush courtyard, to a clubby interior room with tufted banquets and chandaliers, to an outdoor dining area with killer views of the mountains.
The restaurant sources much of it's produce from the on-site garden managed by Urban Plantations. Lucky building tentants also have access to the plot, and can take home fresh picks (um, can we work here?).
The restaurant offers a counter-service breakfast with a healthy lineup of smoothies and acai bowls, in addition to heartier fare, like a build-your-own breakfast option.
Chef Malarkey recently added two formitable toasts to the menu, an avocado, tomato, basil, feta toast, topped with sunflower sprouts from the garden, and a salmon toast layered with whipped goat cheese, fresh herbs and crispy shallots.
During lunchtime the restaurant is full service with an extensive menu of brickoven pizzas, rotisserie chicken, porchetta, and leg of lamb, bowls, sandwiches, and excellent salads.
A new addition to the menu is the Korean Picnic Salad, a formitable mound of cabbage studded with pineapple and tossed with gochujan lime dressing, fininished with a topping of cashews, avocado, hot chilies and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
If you work in La Jolla, this might be your new favorite place to have a lunch meeting. Watch for the subtle signage, which is limited to the flags on lamp posts. Once you find it, there's plenty of parking, and the restaurant area is a true departure from its corporate surroundings.
