Restaurant Week returns to San Diego January 19-26, with dining deals at over 180 restaurants. To help you home in on some of the best places to dine at a discount, we’ve rounded up seven new and established favorites, along with what to order for lunch and dinner.

AVANT, Rancho Bernardo

Chef de Cuisine Chris Gentile’s $60 Restaurant Week dinner menu offers diners their choice of a dozen different appetizers, including ricotta gnudi buried in summer truffle “soil”, salsify from the chef’s garden presented in four different forms, and cognac pumpkin soup. Entrées include premium fish and proteins, including the show-stealing American Wagyu Strip Loin with shishito and sunchokes. Stick the landing with Pastry Chef Margaret Nolan Carvallo’s “Carrot, a Study in Textures”.

International Smoke, Carmel Valley

The $25 lunch menu is the standout at this internationally-inspired BBQ restaurant in One Paseo. Start with Jamaican jerk chicken cutlets or five spice pork belly bao buns, then move on to Kurobuta pulled pork or St. Louis pork ribs before finishing strong with a Valrhona chocolate molten cake topped with candied almond crunch and coconut gelato.

NINE-TEN, La Jolla

Simple salads are a cornerstone of many Restaurant Week appetizer menus, but Nine-Ten’s $60 dinner menu goes above and beyond with favorites like Thai lobster salad, grilled octopus, and Executive Chef Jason Knibb’s famous Jamaican jerk pork belly. On the entrée menu, look for premium proteins like Jamaican-style braised oxtail, grilled local swordfish, and roasted Colorado lamb loin. Pastry Chef Jose Alonzo III has your sweet cravings covered with elegant desserts like apple and miso mille feuille, pear tart tatin, and the always popular half-baked chocolate cake.

Cucina Sorella, Kensington

Kensington is a great destination for date night, and Cucina Sorella’s straightforward Restaurant Week menu is a winner. The $30 dinner menu includes your choice of Caesar salad or meatballs, followed by any pizza or pasta, plus olive oil chocolate bread pudding or salted caramel budino for dessert.

Jayne’s Gastropub, North Park
The $40 dinner menu at this cozy neighborhood locale includes crowd-pleasing options like goat cheese soufflé, crispy eggplant tikka masala, and gnocchi with herb roasted Jidori chicken. Your most difficult decision will likely be dessert, since all three options include a scoop of gelato.

Provisional Kitchen Café and Mercantile, Gaslamp

The bright and airy restaurant in the Pendry hotel is offering $20 two-course lunch and $40 three-course dinner menus. Lunch entrees include a grilled local fish sandwich, pork cubano, and pizza—plus a light salad or something sweet by Pastry Chef Ana Davis, like her banana caramel bombolini, but, if dessert is a priority, the dinner menu offers twice the options, plus optional entrée upgrades, including a 24oz bone-in ribeye.

The Westgate Room, Downtown

Restaurant week is the perfect time to splash out at a fine dining restaurant with some history. Executive Chef Fabrice Hardel of The Westgate Room is known for elegant presentation and attention to detail, and Restaurant Week is no exception. Dishes on the $50 dinner menu include dungeness crab cake with lobster emulsion, Baja striped bass with zucchini tagliatelle, and sheep’s milk ricotta cheesecake.
